Review: Wet-n-Wild CoverAll Collection

A reader asked me to review the Wet-n-Wild face products I hauled in January, and I have tested these wonderful little tubes and pots of goodness for months. There really isn’t a product I don’t adore at least a little bit (though one I still haven’t figured out how to use…) and so without too much preamble, find to follow my thoughts on the Wet-n-Wild Cover All collection, and the new(ish) setting spray.

Primer: Excellent. A lotion-like consistency and face-feel, though as it sets it gets a bit velvety and tacky like a serious silicone primer. I think it smooths out my imperfections and helps keep me a bit more matte. I also think it makes a nice base on which foundation can stick. Repurchase? YES!

Color Correcting Palette: I don’t know how to use this. I picked it up after digging so hard on the other CoverAll products and because color-correcting is all over Sephora for waaaaay more than the $4.99 I paid for this little disk. It is very thick and very creamy and I get the whole green on red cancels out the color…purple on yellow cancels out the color…etc. But I feel like I put this stuff on my face and blend it out to nothing and then I’m right back where I started only sticky. Repurchase? Probably not.

Cream Foundation: Excellent. This has become my second favorite drugstore foundation. It is inexpensive, sits so nicely on my skin, wears well throughout the day, is a good color match, doesn’t oxidize, and helps keep my face a little more matte. It is comfortable to wear and it doesn’t break me out. Repurchase? Most definitely.

Pressed Powder: Very soft, but very dry and delicate, so putting a brush in this compact kicks up a lot of product. But it sets the cream foundation very nicely and adds just a little more coverage. Repurchase? Maybe, but there are so many other pressed powders I want to try, and I don’t really dig the packaging on this.

Setting Spray: I like this some days and I like it not-so-much other days. When it works, it works well and smooths out any powdery look my products have produced while sort of suction-cupping my makeup to my face for all day (slightly dewy) wear. It feels like hairspray for my face. But when it doesn’t work it comes out of the spray nozzle in huge, uncomfortable drops of tackiness, smears my mascara all over my face, and muddies up my look…and I haven’t been able to find a rhyme or reason for why some days it does wonderful things and some days it underperforms. Repurchase? Maybe. But like the pressed powder, there are other setting sprays and fixing mists I want to try. This one is small and cute and inexpensive though, so I won’t rule it out.

Have I missed any Wet-n-Wild Cover All products? Any other face staples I should rush out and find? Let me know in the comments if you have any recommendations.

More soon,
